What is one percent? A tiny fraction, insignificant and altogether unremarkable. Independent of context, one percent is meaningless.
We as individuals often feel like we are insignificant, and that our efforts and contributions can’t achieve any meaningful results in addressing the many struggles and difficulties facing our communities and our world. It is in this sense of defeat that most people give up trying to do anything out of frustration and apathy.
But hope endures. If we all do something small, we can achieve big results.
We encourage individuals to give at least 1% of their estate to a cause of their choice.
With approximately 70% of the North American adult population currently having no Will in place at all, many of us have never considered what kind of end-of-life legacy we will leave behind upon our passing. Through the process of legacy giving, a small percentage designation of one’s estate can at death become a substantial financial gift to the cause of their choice. Our challenge to individuals is to make the decision to commit at least one percent of their estate to a cause that will benefit their community after they are gone from this world.
We inspire lawyers to enrich their community by donating their time, resources and expertise in the preparation of a free will for participating individuals.
In order to facilitate these individuals in their desire to make a difference through their estates, there is a need for caring and competent lawyers. In dealing with end-of-life planning, a certain methodical patience and care must be taken. Our challenge to lawyers is not only walk through the Will preparation process with the heart of a teacher, but for all participants in the One Percent Challenge to complete their Will free of charge.
We are raising needed funds through legacy giving for deserving causes.
Individuals who during their lives committed time, energy and effort to a cause they cared about, through legacy giving are able to contribute in a financially significant way. Since our inception, multiple millions have been allocated to various churches and charitites through our efforts.
As more people participate, our impact will be exponential.
